Description

Multiple cross site scripting vulnerabilities in the User-ID™ Authentication Portal (aka Captive Portal) service, GlobalProtect™ gateway/portal features and Clientless VPN of Palo Alto Networks PAN-OS® software enables a malicious unauthenticated user to store or execute malicious JavaScript payload.

The security risk posed by this issue is minimized when the management interface and access to the User-ID™ Authentication Portal is restricted to only trusted internal IP addresses according to our recommended best practice deployment guidelines.

This issue is applicable to PAN-OS software on PA-Series and VM-Series firewalls and on Panorama (virtual and M-Series).

Cloud NGFW is not affected by this vulnerability.

* This is a low severity vulnerability for Prisma Access. Please refer to the Severity section for impact details. Palo Alto Networks will upgrade all customers during the next scheduled maintenance cycle. Customers who require an upgrade prior to this cycle should contact Palo Alto Networks Support or their account teams to schedule an on-demand software upgrade window.

Required Configuration for Exposure

No special configuration is required to be affected by this issue.

Severity: LOW, Suggested Urgency: MODERATE

The risk is highest when you allow access to the management interface from external IP addresses on the internet.
LOW - CVSS-BT: 1.3 /CVSS-B: 5.3 (CVSS:4.0/AV:N/AC:L/AT:N/PR:N/UI:P/VC:L/VI:L/VA:N/SC:N/SI:N/SA:N/E:U/AU:N/R:U/V:D/RE:M/U:Amber)

You can reduce the risk of exploitation by restricting access to a jump box that is the only system allowed to access the management interface.
LOW - CVSS-BT: 1.2 /CVSS-B: 5.1 (CVSS:4.0/AV:A/AC:L/AT:N/PR:N/UI:P/VC:L/VI:L/VA:N/SC:N/SI:N/SA:N/E:U/AU:N/R:U/V:D/RE:M/U:Amber)

The risk of exploitation is lower for Prisma Access as it requires an authenticated user and the external network access to the management interface is restricted.
LOW - CVSS-BT: 0.4 /CVSS-B: 2.4 (CVSS:4.0/AV:A/AC:L/AT:N/PR:L/UI:P/VC:L/VI:L/VA:N/SC:N/SI:N/SA:N/E:U/AU:N/R:U/V:D/RE:M/U:Amber)

Exploitation Status

Palo Alto Networks is not aware of any malicious exploitation of these issues.

Weakness Type and Impact
